LiwaTec 2016 will be held from November 27th to the 29th in the Baynounah Institute of Science & Technology, Madinat Zayed, Abu Dhabi.  LiwaTec 2016 is set to bring together innovative academics and industrial experts in the field of Water Technology on one platform for discussions on the latest innovations and solutions.pic2

We expect over 300 industry leaders to meet in Abu Dhabi to address the most urgent issues facing the world’s water supply. Expert panelists will discuss new models for smarter, more effective water and waste water infrastructure and share case studies of best practices from around the world.
The Conference aims to promote advanced water technologies through information sharing in detailed technical sessions, round-table discussions, specialized workshops, and an interactive and informative exhibition.

pic3The primary goal of the conference is to offer an opportunity to present and discuss the most recent technological innovations and scientific developments associated with water technology, the environment and ecology, water resources management, and water infrastructure.
Attendees at the conference will have the chance to discuss issues and through collaborative meetings with scientists, end users, decision makers, and stakeholders from research institutes, universities, governmental agencies and industry professionals.

The conference aims at developing a general framework to prevent the deterioration of water quality, plans on facing water scarcity, and ideas and initiatives on efficient water consumption and innovative water treatment technologies.

Education: Graduated Faculty of Engineering (Control & Instrumentation) of Kobe University, Japan in March, 1969.

Previous Work History:

In April, 1969, Isao joined Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) as the engineer of new ship building. Isao started doing the business in the arena of desalination plants (together with oil/gas, chemical plants) in 1978. Since then, Isao contributed to primarily Middle East to design and construct MSF/MED/RO plants. Isao has been an active member of the International Desalination Association (IDA) since that time. Isao also was running the IDA Board as a Director from 1997 to 1999 in MHI, and from 2005 to 2011 after joining Sumitomo Corporation in 2004. Isao retired from Sumitomo Corporation in June, 2011 where he was an Advisor to the Power/Water Investment Department. Isao served as the President of Japan Desalination Association (JDA) from July, 2011 to June, 2013. Isao is now the Representative in Japan of Engineering Solutions Spain (ESS).

Dr. Peter Gleick

Dr. Peter Gleick is renowned the world over as a leading expert, innovator, and communicator on water and climate issues. He co-founded and leads the Pacific Institute in Oakland, California created in 1987 and now one of the most innovative, independent non-governmental organizations addressing global water challenges.

Dr. Gleick’s work has redefined water from the realm of engineers to the world of social justice, sustainability, human rights, and integrated thinking. His influence on the field of water has been long and deep: he developed one of the earliest analyses of climate change impacts on water resources, the earliest comprehensive work on water and conflict, and defined basic human needs for water and the human right to water – work that has been used by the UN and in human rights court cases. He pioneered the concept of the “soft path for water,” developed the idea of “peak water,” and has written about the remarkable history and background of the growing bottled water phenomenon.

Dr. Gleick is a MacArthur “genius” Fellow, was named “a visionary on the environment” by the BBC, and is an elected member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences. Wired Magazine featured Dr. Gleick as “one of 15 people the next President should listen to.”

He received his B.S. from Yale University and an M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Gleick serves on the boards of numerous journals and organizations, and is the author or editor of many scientific papers and eleven books, including the influential series The World’s Water, Bottled and Sold: The Story Behind Our Obsession with Bottled Water, as well as A Twenty-First Century U.S. Water Policy.

Dr. Taha B.M.J. Ouarda

Taha B.M.J. Ouarda is professor at Masdar Institute, and Head of the Institute Center for Water and Environment. Prior to joining Masdar Institute, Dr. Ouarda was Chairman of the Canada Research Chair on the Estimation of Hydro-meteorological Variables, and also Chairman of the Industrial Chair in Statistical Hydrology at the National Institute for Scientific Research. He has also served as President of the National Canadian Committee on Statistical Hydrology and senior representative of Canada to the UN for Water.

Dr. Ouarda holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from Colorado State University. He has led several international projects dealing with hydro-meteorological modeling, and the impacts of climate change. Dr. Ouarda is the author of more than 400 papers in top international journals in the field of hydrometeorology.
